2018 HVAC Trends

When the recession hit the U.S. in late 2007, the HVAC industry took a hit along with the construction industry (and many others). But now, a decade later, the future looks much brighter (and well air-conditioned). The HVAC industry is expected to be a $60 billion business in 2018. As the industry grows, it also changes, adjusting to new technologies, new challenges and new developments. Here are two of the trends facing the HVAC Industry this year:

Technology integration

Like pretty much everything else in the world, home appliances are increasingly becoming part of the Internet of Things, including heating and cooling systems. Studies indicate that by 2020, 26 billion devices will be connected to the internet. Connected heating and cooling systems can be controlled via smartphone or app, and can give customers maintenance reminders and alerts. Staying on top of the technology integration boom is vital to serving the current customer base.

An increasing skill gap

Highly trained and skilled technicians are becoming somewhat more rare as an older generation hits retirement age and a younger generation is still acquiring the years of training and knowledge. Dominion Service Company prides itself on the skills of our staff, which is one reason we offer a 100% performance guarantee on any and all HVAC installations, maintenance calls, repairs and more.
